Guidelines Before Using Irbesartan

Avapro can be combined with diuretics to control blood pressure more effectively. Avapro should not be given to pregnant women as it can cause fetal death. In patients with congestive heart failure administration of Avapro can cause oliguria and acute renal failure. Irbesartan is not administered in pediatric patients below 6 years of age. In patients undergoing treatment with diuretics or hemodialysis and in patients with salt or volume depletion transient hypotension may occur on administration of Avapro. The patient should be kept in supine position and should be administered with normal saline to treat this transient hypotension. Irbesartan should be administered with caution in renal artery stenosis, aortic or mitral valve stenosis, and obstructive cardiomyopathy.

What are the common dosages of Generic Avapro?

The recommended starting dosage of Avapro is 150mg once daily, administered with or without food. The dose can be slowly increased to a maximum of 300mg/day. The effectiveness of the treatment can be added by incluing an hydrochlorthiazide diruetic in the treatment. The recommended dose for diabetic nephropathy is 300mg once daily.
