Montelukast Sodium

Montelukast Sodium is a prescription medication used orally to treat mild persistent asthma. It helps control asthma including those triggered by exercise in adults and adolescents 15 years of age and above. It is also prescribed by a doctor to help control the symptoms of hay fever in people with asthma who suffers hay fever as well.

Montelukast Sodium is a leukotriene receptor antagonist. It works by stopping the action of leukotriene in the body. Leukotriene is a chemical substance released by the body as part of the inflammatory and allergic reactions. It causes inflammation and increased mucus production in the airways. It also makes the muscle the lines the airways contract making the airway narrow. This makes people with asthma difficult to breathe.

Why Buy Montelukast Sodium?

Montelukast Sodium was originally developed to treat asthma. However, it’s been discovered that it is also effective in treating hay fever or allergic rhinitis. It’s an add-on treatment if your asthma isn’t fully controlled by simply using inhaler.

Montelukast Sodium reduces the production of mucus, inflammation and narrowing in the airways to help control asthma and to prevent an asthma attack. It also relieves the symptoms of hay fever both seasonal and perennial.  Montelukast Sodium is sometimes used off-label for chronic urticaria or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug-induced urticaria.

How to Take Montelukast Sodium?

Take Montelukast Sodium regularly alongside other anti-asthma medications. It comes in tablet, chewable tablet and granule forms. Take it exactly as instructed by your physician. The typical dose is one tablet of 10 mg once a day. If you are using this to prevent breathing difficulties during exercise, take it at least 2 hours before exercise.  For children below 15 years of age, give them the chewable tablets or the granules which contain lower doses of Montelukast.

Take it in the evening with or without food. Take the medicine every day even if your symptoms are under control. Do not stop taking your medicine unless you are told to do so.
