Moxifloxacin HCL

Moxifloxacin HCL is a quinolone antibiotic. It is used to treat bacterial infections such as:

• Acute flare-ups of chronic bronchitis
• Community-acquired pneumonia

Moxifloxacin HCL works by killing the bacteria that cause infection. It interferes with the bacterial enzyme involved in repairing and replicating the genetic material (DNA) of bacteria. Once the enzyme does not work, the bacteria will not be able to reproduce and to repair them. This kills the bacteria and clears up the infections. It should only be used if other antibiotics have failed to clear up the infection.
