The oxygen and blood supply to the heart increases.

This changes lowers the blood pressure in the body. The drug also makes easier for your heart to pump blood around your body. It starts to work within an hour and effect lasts for at least 24 hours.

How to take Enalapril maleate?

  • Enalapril maleate is available in the form of a tablet of strength 2.5 mg and 10 mg. These are oral tablets to take by mouth.
  • Initial dose: 2.5 mg two times a day.
  • General dose: 2.5 mg to 20 mg two times a day.
  • Maximum dose: 40 mg in divided doses.
  • Children dose: 0.08 mg/kg (up to 5 mg) one time a day. Doses more than 40 mg or 0.58 mg/kg is not studied in pediatric patients.
  • General instructions:
  • Take the medicine without regard to the meal.
  • In case of a Gastro-intestinal upset, give with food.
